UAE ALSO is non-governmental body affiliated with American Academy of Family Physicians founded to assist healthcare professionals in developing and maintaining the knowledge and professional skills needed to manage emergencies that can arise in obstetrical care.

Our Vision

Promote high professional stander to all maternity care providers including family pgysicians, obstetricians, midwives, nurses, paramedics and trainees.

Goals

  • Assist maternity care providers in developing and maintaining the knowledge and skill needed to effectively manage problems, which can occur during pregnancy.
  • Provide widely disseminated educational courses, presented by local faculty in their own communities that can help standardize emergency obstetrical procedures.
  • Facilitate coordination of care and collaborate interaction between all maternity care providers.

Objectives

UAE Maternity Council & American Academy of Family Physicians lunch the UAE ALSO course with the vision that at the completion of the provider course, the participant should be able to:

  • Discuss ways of improving the management of obstetrical urgencies and emergencies, which may help standardize the skills of practicing maternity, care providers.
  • Successfully complete the course written test and mega delivery testing stat

 

 
Program

The two-day ALSO course is for maternity care providers including physicians, nurse, midwives, registered nurses and other clinicians practicing in many different settings. The course provides a detailed didactic and procedural review of emergencies, which may arise in obstetrics.

The course consists of required syllabus reading, lectures and small group workstations, utilizing pelvic mannequins and other appropriate medical equipment.

• Birth Crisis
• Risk Management
• Postpartum Hemorrhage
• Maternal Resuscitation (fall 2000)
• Repair of Third and Fourth Degree Lacerations (fall 2000)
Cesarian Delivery (fall 2000)
