UAE Trauma Council

Trauma is the leading cause of death for Americans under the age of 40. During the course of a year, almost 1 in every 4 Americans is injured and 1 in 20 is disabled to some degree. The majority of seriously injured patients are treated by local volunteer EMS agencies and arrive at small emergency departments where a nurse has to care for them until physician can be called. For these patients the difference between recovery and death is often measured in minutes. Thus the care provided by Trauma providers is crucial.

The UAE TRAUMA COUNCIL is a leading pioneer organization for trauma care and trauma prevention in the United Arab Emirates. It is funded by National Project for Health Professional Skill Development through Mohammed Bin Rashid Est.

The UAE TRAUMA COUNCIL strongly supports National and Emirates legislation that creates and maintains trauma systems. It works closely with the Ministry of Health & local health Authorities supporting legislative and administrative efforts that address the financial and legal issues surrounding trauma.

The UAE TRAUMA COUNCIL provides critical information on trauma to its members, to policy makers, and to the public and supports the needs of families. Injury prevention, creating and Producing programs to its members

The members of UAE TRAUMA COUNCIL are the critical players in trauma care. They are the backbone of trauma systems. They provide the care trauma victims must have if they are to survive.

UAE TRAUMA COUNCIL vision is to promote excellence in Trauma care, advance patient safety initiative and improve multidisciplinary team performance through broad application of high fidelity medical simulation

Mission

• Strive to improve the quality of care provided to injured patient, including pre-hospital management and transport, acute care hospitalization, and reintegration into society
• Support, conduct, and apply basic science, clinical and outcome research related to trauma
• Foster professional and community education in the field of injured prevention and in the care of injured patient
• Provide leadership in collaboration with health care provider, agencies, and individuals

Objective

• Hold annual scientific meeting
• Publish a newsletter twice annually
• Ensure the publication of annual meeting papers
• Organize postgraduate courses-local, regional, and national
• Facilitate development and maintenance of a National Trauma Registry
• Promote basic science and clinical trauma research
• Facilitate, develop, and participate in the designation and accreditation of trauma center
• Develop guideline for, and participate in, the designation and accreditation of trauma centers
• Encourage governments to implement legislation designed to decrease the incidence of trauma
